Food is the medium.

The inspiration for The Fufu Café and Morse Creatives comes from local markets in Nigeria, Liberia, and California.

My mother and I escaped the war in Liberia and found refuge in Lagos, Nigeria. I briefly returned to Liberia to live with my family before immigrating to the United States at eleven. Throughout my travels, I was always fascinated by the marketplaces and the vendors who occupied them. They competed with one another for customer attention and simultaneously lent a hand whenever one needed help.

The farmer markets in Sacramento and city markets in Lagos and Monrovia were full of chefs, jewelry makers, welders, painters, hair braiders, tailors, and farmers who enjoyed interacting with their customers. More than that, they enjoyed creating, building, and perfecting their crafts.

It wasn't a conscious decision, but I always wanted to be like them.
